June 27 & 28 2015 – Mark your calendars
In December there was an article in the paper indicating that the Red Cross was leaving Danville. Chris KG4UQL talked to the Boyle county Judge Executive and he assured Chris that we would be able to stay in the building. The Judge Executive was to attend our January meeting but did not. John K4OH will contact him about concerns the club has and report his findings at the February meeting.
Marshall K4UKB brought in information about the Yaesu DR-1X/ DR1XE dual band digital repeater. The cost of the repeater will be $500 instead of the normal $1600 if purchased before March. Sharon KE4INO made a motion to purchase the repeater and K4UKB 2nd. The motion was approved unanimously. John K4OH to order as soon as possible. Donations were made to help with the cost. If you would like to donate toward the repeater contact Zenah KK4IYY.
Alan Goble KM4EGH is with Boy Scout troop 27 and wants the club to help with their Radio Merit Badge. He is working with John K4OH to determine the best way we can accomplish this. Please support Alan and John as they work toward making this happen.
Marshall K4UKB has done an excellent job with the web site. He asks for club members to look it over and give him feedback to make sure it stays up to date. http://wrarc.com
The year 2014 was the 100th anniversary of the ARRL and W1AW was activated in every state twice throughout the year. W4CDA has talked to W1AW/P in each of the 50 states in SSB, CW & RTTY and will apply for a $60 plaque when they become available. We also participated in the Centennial Point Challenge and so far have 2,442 points. Hopefully we will attain the 2nd level (3000 points) and then apply for a $16 Certificate when available. Thanks to all that helped!
K4UKB made a motion to close the meeting, KE4INO 2nd and the WRARC meeting closed at 8:18 pm.
