The Wilderness Road ARC met at the Red Cross building in Danville with 14 members and guests attending. Members present were K4UKB, KG4UQL, W9WA, KU4KD, KK4ZNG, KA4SWT, KM4FRM, KK4IYY, KM4EGH, WX4GPS, K4FT and K4OH with Guests Brandon Goble and Alan KY1O. The meeting was called to order at 7:34pm by President John Montgomery K4OH. The minutes from February were read by K4FT. K4UKB made a motion to accept the minutes as read, KU4KD 2nd the motion. The motion was approved by the members. KK4IYY gave the treasurer’s report. KG4UQL made the motion to accept the treasurer’s report and K4UKB 2nd the motion. Members approved the motion.
Marshall K4UKB called and talked to Yaesu and resubmitted the application. The application was approved February 19 but the new repeater was back ordered and is not expected until April. Marshall has been reimbursed for the cost of the repeater from the treasury. Members have donated toward the repeater, if you would like to help with a donation please contact Treasurer Zenah KK4IYY.
Alan Goble KM4EGH brought Boy Scout troop 27 to the club station March 3rd to help 8 scouts attain their Radio Merit Badge. Alan KM4EGH, John K4OH, John K4FT and several scout leaders were there to make this possible. Special Thanks to Rey Ruiz KM4DYA in Fort Walton Beach Florida for answering our CQ and being a great mentor on the air! A good time was had by all.
Doug KA4SWT, Marshall K4UKB and Jere K4FUM went to the repeater site to check on the repeater with a spectrum analyzer belonging to K4FUM. They found the repeater putting out 13 watts and transmitting slightly off frequency (which was corrected). There was substantial interference when the top antenna was used so it was put back on the lower antenna. After trying several different things they feel that the antenna would work better if it was reoriented on the tower or if a stand-off was used to get the antenna farther away from tower leg. Plans are to work on it when the weather gets warm. Thanks to Jere (K4FUM) for bringing his test equipment from Atlanta and assisting in the testing.
