OLD BUISNESS

Repeater Site

John K4OH will make a request to Mike Wilder at the courthouse to get an extra key for the repeater site.

Trailer

The 8X24 trailer is at Marshall K4UKB house for some minor repairs. Chris KG4UQL recommends that everyone look on line for “ARES Trailers” to get some ideas on how to set the trailer up for emergency operations. How should we set up the operator stations? What kind of radios will we need? Etc… Bring your ideas to the next club meeting. George WQ4Z will have Sharon KE4INO check to see if the trailer can be added to the clubs insurance.

Donation

Marty KE4SHC who recently donated a lot of his station to the club would like to remind everyone of his auction 10:30am Saturday September 12 at 606 Ky. Hwy #198 Hustonville.

See http://www.danvillekyrealty.com/auctions for details.

NEW BUISNESS

Repeater – Please reset your PL tone to 100 Hz

The new repeater is back on the air 145.310 – with a 100 hz tone. All agreed that the original repeater site at the knob was the best location so the repeater at the club station has been removed. Reports are very good but Marshall K4UKB states that the SWR is 3:1, the antenna and coax will need to be looked at soon. Marshall also made a shelf and acquired parts so we could use a power supply to float a battery to control voltage spikes and power failures.

UHF Repeater

Marshall K4UKB has the UHF repeater on the air but the antenna is not very high right now. His new antenna and coax are ready to install on top of tower so be sure to keep trying 440.800 +5mhz shift with a pl tone of 100hz. His repeater will be coordinated through the club and use the W4CDA call sign. George WQ4Z will have Sharon KE4INO check to see if the repeater can be added to the clubs insurance.

In Memory of Bob Sowders KE4FMA

It was with great sorrow that the club learned of the passing of Bob KE4FMA.

Bob has been an active member of WRARC for many many years and was currently serving on the Board of Directors for our club.

Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. You will be truly missed Bob, Rest in Peace.

NEW BUISNESS

Repeater

The AC power supply went out on the new repeater. Yaesu said it is covered by warranty but it cost Marshall K4UKB $95.01 to ship it. Marshall is in the process of working with the insurance company to get reimbursed the shipping costs (minus the $25 deductible). When the repeater gets back from Yaesu, (due to arrive August 5th) Marshall, Chris KG4UQL and John K4OH will put the new repeater in the club room with a 100HZ PL tone. The old repeater will remain at the knob with a 77hz tone. This way we will have a back up and can do comparison testing. Thank you for all the time and effort you have spent on this Marshall!

K4UKB Repeater

Field Day

Things went well for FD this year! There is a lot of preparation that goes into this: Networking, Mesh system, power, antennas, SSB, CW, VHF, GOTA stations, displays and the food to mention a few. The weather was perfect and what a great site to have at R.R. Donnelley. Preliminary score shows well over 200 points more than last year. Thanks to all those who participated to make FD such a success!

NEW BUISNESS

Repeater

John K4OH will make a request to Mike Wilder at the courthouse to get an extra key for the repeater site. John said that though it has not been requested by our trustee, he needs to have a key in case of emergency to shut down the repeater.

John K4OH requested the repeater be temporarily moved to the club station for coverage testing to determine if there is a problem with the antenna or feed line at the repeater site. Chris KG4UQL and Doug KA4SWT will work on setting a time to get this done.

The Red Cross in Lexington has donated the approximately 8 X 24 foot trailer to WRARC.

Thanks Chris and Doug KA4SWT for your work on this!
