2010 WRARC Field Day

Updated June 21, 2010

Please join WRARC for a FUN filled Field Day this weekend June 26th and 27th at R R Donnelley’s Club Ground! Directions can be found on the ARRL’s FD locator site arrl.org/field-day-locator.
The gate will be open by 9am Saturday for set-up. (We always need extra help during set-up and tear down!)
Feel free to bring your own station equipment or operate one of the four stations we (tentatively) will have on the air at the same time.
We will also have a GOTA (Get On The Air!) station for new or inactive operators. Here is a link to everything you need to know for FD 2010 arrl.org/field-day

You do not need to be an Amateur Radio Operator or club member to attend.
Bring your friends and family and show them what Ham radio is all about!
Please come early to be included in meals and pay for food and drink.

All of us at Wilderness Road Amateur Radio Club are looking forward to seeing you there!

ARRL 10 Meter Contest

Updated December 10, 2009

Hello WRARC
The ARRL 10 Meter contest is on this weekend starting at 7pm local time Friday night. See the rules at http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2009/10-meters.html, it runs until 7pm Sunday night.
Technician class operator's can operate SSB from 28.300 to 28.500Mhz.
A new Solar cycle24 sunspot showed up on the other side of the sun yesterday and it should be swinging into view during the contest.
If 10 meters is “open”, you can work the world on a wet noodle! A Dipole antenna works much better though and is easy to make, see angelfire.com/mb/amandx/dipole.html.
Did you know this weekend is also the Gemini meteor shower science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/08dec_geminids.htm. It is common practice during this contest for amateurs to bounce their signals off the ionized trail of a meteor to make 10 meter contacts. If signals seem to just come from no-where to 20 over S9, you have just heard this phenomena!

Dust off that radio! Join the FUN! Become RADIO ACTIVE!

P.s. Don't forget to check into the ARES nets tonight. 8pm 145.310 & 8:30pm 146.790
