Monthly Meeting Minutes for 26 SEPTEMBER 2023 – FINAL RECORD COPY

Meeting called to order by President Mike May (KF4FMQ) at 1930 hours EDT.
Attendees: 13 attending members of 41 total: (A quorum was present.)

Previous monthly meeting was 22 AUG 2023. Motion to accept Minutes of meeting as published (via
email) by Dennis (K3KZU), 2nd by Harold (AF6MB). Passed by acclimation.

Past Activities Report:
o Previous Weekly WRARC OTA club net was conducted each Wednesday evening at
2000L on the club’s 2m Repeater.
o Previous WRARC hybrid monthly club meeting was on Tuesday, 22 AUG 2023 (4th
Tuesday of month).
o Previous WRARC hybrid Coffee Social was on Friday, 1 SEP 2023 (1st Friday of month).
o Previous AMLEG Post 46 D-STAR NET (1st Monday of month) was conducted on 4 SEP
2023 (1st Monday of month).
o Previous monthly general meeting of The American Legion Boyle Post 46 was 1900L
hours on Tuesday, 5 SEP 2023 (1st Tuesday of month).
o Previous Club Activity was: 4 State QSO Parties – TX, NJ, NH, IOWA on 16 SEP 2023.
o Previous AMLEG Post 46 and Chamber of Commerce social was held on 21 SEP 2023.
o Previous VEC Testing was: Saturday, 22 JUL 2023 starting at 1000L at The American
Legion Post 46 building, 45 Spears Lane, Danville, KY. Three people total were tested.
Two for Technician & one for General and all passed. The two technicians then tested
for General and both passed.
Old Business:
o WRARC Club Dues. Annual club dues for 2024 are now being accepted.
Full Legion members are $30 and can be paid online with a credit card at
www.legion.org and click on “Renew”.
Sons of the American Legion are $20 and can be paid by check.
Legion Associate members are $30 and can be paid by check.
All checks should be made out to “The American Legion Post 46” and mailed to
Ken Douglass, 108 Chandler Drive, Danville, KY 40422.
o As of today, 15 of 39 current members have already paid their dues for 2024.
o Had a new member at the AMLEG Post 46 club meeting session, Mike Maynard (KJ4FZ).
o Bourbon Chase foot race will be on Friday, 6 OCT 2023 on same weekend as Perryville
Battlefield event. Need list of club volunteers to support this event.
New Business:

o Bourbon Chase foot race will be on Friday, 6 OCT 2023 on same weekend as Perryville
Battlefield event. Have 5 club volunteers so far but more needed. Mike (KG4FMQ) will
make final decision on whether we can support this activity or not NLT Friday, 29 SEP
and will let members know of decision at that time.
o General info was given on ‘Jamboree-on-the-Air’, or JOTA, which is the largest Scouting
event in the world. It is held annually the third full weekend in October (20 thru 22 OCT
2023). The exchange between scouts include name, location, Scout rank, age, and
hobbies. There are no official hours, so you have the whole weekend to make JOTA
contacts. The event officially starts Friday evening during the JOTA Jump Start and runs
through Sunday evening. The World Scout Bureau reported that the 2017 JOTA-JOTI had
over 1.5 million Scout participants from more than 160 countries. More info at:

Future Activities:
o Next weekly WRARC OTA club net is each Wednesday evening at 2000L on the club’s 2m
Repeater: 145.310 MHz with -600 kHz offset and Split PL Code 100 Hz (i.e. 100 Hz on
both Tx CTCSS & Rx CTCSS).
o Next AMLEG Post 46 D-STAR NET (1st Monday of month) is on 2 OCT 2023 on REF56C via
our local D-STAR repeater KM4OON, +5 MHz offset, 444.2375 MHz & no PL tones.
o Next monthly general meeting of The American Legion Boyle Post 46 will be at 1900L
hours on Tuesday, 3 OCT 2023 (1st Tuesday of the month).
o Next WRARC Coffee Social is on Friday, 6 OCT 2023 (1st Friday of month) at 0900L via
ZOOM.
o Next Club Activity is tentative but is planned to have a Fox Hunt with the date and time
TBD.
o Next WRARC hybrid monthly club meeting is on Tuesday, 24 OCT 2023 (4th Tuesday of
month) at 1930L at The American Legion Post 46 building, 45 Spears Lane, Danville and
via ZOOM.
o Next VEC Testing: Saturday, 28 OCT 2023 starting at 1000L at The American Legion Post
