WRARC Minutes August 25, 2026

A hybrid meeting via Zoom provided by Dennis (Thank You Dennis) 

Meeting was called to order at 7:30pm EDT by VP Chris Galbreath / KG4UQL

Members attending: Chris KG4UQL, Doug KA4SWT, Dennis K3KZU, Bill W9WA, Ronnie KG4AYP, Andy KI6SEP, Pete KQ4RUW and visitors Lisa and Jeffery Bowling.

Motion was made to accept the minutes as published from the July 28th by Bill and 2nd by Dennis. Passed by acclamation.

Treasurer’s Report:

Ken was unable to attend but did send a report before the meeting. The balance was unchanged. 

OLD Business:

Still need a Activity Director.

Renewal of club dues started in July for 2027. Let’s start getting those sent in. Full Legion members are $40 a year and can be done online with a credit card. Go to legion.org and click RENEW. You will need your ID Number from Legion Card. Sons of American Legion and Associate members are $20. This needs to be paid by check made out to American Legion Post 46 and mailed to Ken Douglas, 108 Chandler Drive, Danville Ky. 40422.
 
New Business:

The Bourbon Chase Event is Oct 2nd 2026. Andy gave a presentation on the updates to the program used to capture and relay by packet the bib numbers to exchange site. They will be projected on screen to update the next runner on a team. VOLUNTEERS will be needed for this event. Andy will be sending out an email with information and to signup to help. This is a fun and interesting event.

Future Events:

Oct 2nd Bourbon Chase.

Sept 4th Monthly Coffee 9am Location TBD. Mike sends out an email to get a number of how many are coming.

Weekly net Wednesday 8pm on club repeater 145.310 -600khz offset and 100hz tone on TX & RX.

Sept 1st American Legion post 46 meeting 7pm.

Sept 22nd next WRARC meeting 7:30pm

Oct 24th Next VEC test session 10am at American Legion Post 46 located 45 Spears Lane, Danville, Ky.

Past Activities Report:
The WRARC Coffee Social was scheduled for Friday, July 3rd, 2026 (1st Friday of month) at 0900L at JCCrew. 8 attended service was good, but the upstairs seating was scary to get to.


Field Day – June 27, 8 attended.


July 18th (Saturday) North American QSO Party RTTY 1800Z (2PM Local) 4 attended

General meeting of The American Legion Boyle Post 46 was held at 1900L hours on Tuesday, July 2nd,
2026 (1st Tuesday of the month).


VE Testing on July 25, 3 reserved, 2 attended, one passed

Thanks to Roger Parsons (KG4VCR) for donating the barrel lid and Russell Chaney (KN4OHD) for the artwork on the new Barrel Top sign now hanging in the Club room


Renewal of dues starts in July. Sons and Associate post members are $20 per year. Full members are $40.


Peter Rock (KJ4ND) has resigned as Activities Manager, we should look for a replacement

The WRARC Coffee Social is scheduled for Friday, August 7th, 2026 (1st Friday of month) at 0900L, at the Red Rooster.

The weekly WRARC OTA club net is each Wednesday evening at 2000L on the club’s 2m Repeater: 145.310 MHz with -600 kHz offset and Split PL Code 100 Hz (i.e. 100 Hz on both Tx CTCSS & Rx CTCSS).

Next monthly general meeting of The American Legion Boyle Post 46 at 1900L hours on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 (1st Tuesday of the month).

General meeting of The American Legion Boyle Post 46 was held at 1900L hours on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 (1st Tuesday of the month).

Old Business:


Taylor Scott has agreed to take over Club website updates


The Post will be participating in the July 4th 250th anniversary Parade in Danville but the Radio Club will not.


We hope to be participating in the Field Day exercise, at the end of June. Discussed if we want to do that in a more public area than the pavilion at the Post.


Peter has received the Logbook of the World certificates and stickers the club has earned.

We have a projector for the computer, need M-M VGA Cable, and speakers.

Field Day – June 27, 2 responses from the club, On air time is 2PM, setup beforehand. Temporary 30′ tower with antennas, and transmitters provided by Chris and Doug. Details to be sorted out after regular meeting.

250th year parade – nobody replied regarding 250th Birthday parade.

New Business:


Mike will request reimbursement for projector related expenses once unit is fully operational


Mike will not be here for the September meeting, and someone else will have to chair that meeting.


Future Activities:
