Meeting called to order by President Mike May (KF4FMQ) at 1930 hours EDT.

Past Activities Report:
Previous Weekly WRARC OTA club net was conducted each Wednesday evening at 2000
hours EDT on the club’s 2m Repeater: 145.310 MHz with -600 kHz offset and Split PL
Code 100 Hz (i.e. 100 Hz on both Tx CTCSS & Rx CTCSS).
Previous WRARC hybrid Coffee Social was on Friday, 2 September 2022 (1st Friday of
month) at 0900 hours EDT at AJ’s Country Café and via ZOOM.
Previous TALARC Post 46 D-STAR NET (1st Monday of month) was conducted on 5 Sep
- See Andy’s attached report.
Previous Club Activity was four state QSO Parties; Iowa, Texas, New Jersey, & New
Hampshire on 17 Sep 2022.
Previous WRARC hybrid monthly club meeting was on Tuesday, 27 September 2022 (4
th Tuesday of month) at 1930 hours EDT at The American Legion Post 46 and via ZOOM.

REMINDER: WRARC Club Dues. Annual club dues for 2023 are now being accepted.
Full Legion members are $30 and can be paid online with a credit card at
www.legion.org and click on “Renew”.
Sons of the American Legion are $20 and can be paid by check.
Legion Associate members are $30 and can be paid by check.
All checks should be made out to “The American Legion Post 46” and mailed to
Ken Douglass, 108 Chandler Drive, Danville, KY 40422.
REMINDER: ARRL Membership. Ken (KY4KD) also needs to know which WRARC
members are also members of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) in order to
maintain our ‘active’ status as an affiliated ARRL club. So PLEASE CONTACT KEN AND
LET HIM KNOW WHETHER YOU ARE A MEMBER OF ARRL OR NOT.

5 Element Beam. Joel’s (KU4KD) 5 element beam has been purchased and taken down
and is now in storage. It will later be put on top of the short tower at the American Legion.
50’ Tower & Hex Antenna for Sale. There is a crank up tower & Hex antenna for sale by
the spouse of a now SK member. If interested, contact Ken (KY4KD) for her contact
information.
New Business
CONDOLENCES. The entire WRARC wishes to express our sincerest condolences on
the passing of Chris’ father, William ‘Bill’ E. Galbreath, on 8 Sep 2022.

W4CDA Awards Discussion. A motion was made to cover the minimal cost for framing
of W4CDA awards on Log Book of the World by Harold (AF6MB), 2nd by Bill (W9WA).
Passed by acclimation.
BCTC. Harold updated the club on his KY Community & Technical College discussions.
Bergin Independent School Amateur Radio Club (KQ4CWT). Again, general interest
was shown for our WRARC club supporting this new student run ARC. Their teacher,
William D. ‘Doug’ Rulon (KO4WDE-General), is the educational sponsor & control
operator and is listed on QRZ.com. Our own Ray (KY4RW) is also listed as a sponsor.
The KQ4CWT club is also listed on QRZ.com which states that their mission is to
introduce student youth to Amateur Radio through hands on experiences. They currently
have 15+ Middle & High School students in the 2022-23 program. Their equipment
currently consists of a Yaesu FT-2980 & an Icom 880H. They ask for QSO’s with them
during their scheduled on-air times:
1:30-3:30 PM (17:30-19:30 UTC) Fridays
7:30-8:30 AM (11:30-12:00 UTC) Weekday mornings.
They monitor:

Simplex 146.520, 146.535, and 146.550
W4CDA Repeater (Danville 145.310 -0.6 Tone 100)
K4HH Repeater (Nicholasville 145.490 -0.6 Tone 88.5)
Future Activities:

Dakota on 8 October 2022 that start between 1400Z to 1600Z (1000L to 1200L) utilizing
ZOOM. We can take our pick of whichever is most active.
Next VEC Testing: On Saturday, 22 October 2022 starting at 1000 hours EDT at The
American Legion Post 46 building, 45 Spears Lane, Danville, KY. See

After-meeting Presentation:
A video presentation on the operation of the ICOM 7300 was given by Mike (KF4FMQ).
