Activities Report:
• Completed:
o Monthly coffee via Zoom: Friday, June 4, 9 A.M.
o Monday, June 7 TALARC D-STAR Net: There were 45 total check-ins including Net
Control from 14 states, one Canadian Province. (See appendix for details.)
o Kentucky QSO Party Saturday, June 5

• Upcoming:
o Next TALARC D-STAR: Monday, July 5. Remember you can check in via EchoLink from
your computer or smartphone to either node KY4RW-L or use EchoLink’s search mode on
“Danville”.
o Monthly coffee via Zoom: Friday, July 9, 9 A.M.
o Field Day this Saturday, June 26 (the 4th Saturday).

Old Business:
• Bourbon Chase Relay Race:
o As proposed last month, a site evaluation of Weisiger Park was performed. Mike & Andy
had good results testing RF between pavilion in County Fairgrounds and Weisiger Park.
Only need 16” whips on 5W HTs for solid communication anywhere along 4th avenue
side of Park: even the old Federal building is not causing RF shadow. o RF plan is same as 2019: packet on 70cm and voice on 2m using repeater.
Main communications via 50W mobile rigs with mast mounted antennas.
Using repeater for voice allows Club member(s) from home to provide any
needed emergency communications because the cell system is overloaded by
the number of Race participants.
o Need more sign-ups.
• Looking for people to make presentations at future meetings: please contact Mike if you would
like to present or have suggestions of topics.

New Business
• ARRL Field Day starts this Saturday, the 4th weekend of June.
o Everybody will operate from home, not Club.
o Dennis will set up Zoom from 1300 until 2200 Saturday & email to Peter.
o Peter will send out Zoom notice & include Field Day schedule
o Lots of opportunities for bonus for copying ARRL Bulletin. Bulletin will be sent in various
modes at specified times: John has provided the information which is an appendix to
these Minutes.

• Next Monthly meeting: Tuesday July 27, 2021 at 1930, open forum at 1900.
